Hey there.

I’m Bailey.

adventure mom, weekend van lifer, storyteller.

I am an experienced hiker and backpacking guide, but when I had my first baby, the motherhood example around me was women staying home with their babies, going on walks in the stroller and to the local playground.

I did that for a while. With a handful of adventures sprinkled in.

Until I realized I am a stay at home mom who doesn’t like to stay home.

It started with a hike. A little one. Half a mile up a hill carrying my almost 2 year old on my back before I huffed and puffed so much we turned around.

Even so, I had fun. 2 year old R had fun. She’d hiked the whole way down.

So we kept going. First on short hikes close to home and then expanding our circumference.

I found myself enjoying motherhood infinitely more, no longer bored or impatiently waiting for my husband to get home. I felt like myself again. R and I were making memories together, hiking to picturesque swimming holes in the redwoods, climbing rocks in the mountains, and building sandcastles at the beach.

“When you’re true to who you are, amazing things happen.”

When we got pregnant with our second tiny adventurer, the exploring continued. I hiked and traveled pregnant right up until baby Q was born - with the help of the trusty camper van we were building out. Baby Q has been on adventures since the beginning. She has gone backpacking and hot springing and paddling. It has been both challenging and an absolute blast.

Now I know I’m lucky I had a background in outdoors exploration, but all this is to say that regardless of your background, if it is safe and comfortable (enough) for your body to do so (required warning to talk to your doctor), you can adventure with your kids if its in your heart to do so. And I’m here to help. So buckle up, and let’s get outside.

Go ahead, explore.
